Gabby Melgarejo is a Junior in Ripon High for the 2022-2023 school year and is determined to put in large amounts of work and effort powered on by her passion so that she can excel in her academics and enjoy her time with her family and friends. This year, she will be the Vice President for both the Red Cross Club and Scrubs Club and is the Secretary for the Asian Culture Club. She is also a part of the Leadership team as the Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator. She aims to be involved with other clubs as well, such as Sacred Heart and the California Scholarship Federation. She has played Varsity Tennis for Ripon High last year and also plans to play tennis this year. She has volunteered with several nonprofits, such as Garden Joy, Project Alley Cat, and Kids Against Hunger. She enjoys being involved with the Red Cross Club because she has also been able to volunteer with them and become more aware of issues going on within her community and around the world. She plans to attend a UC, such as UCLA or Berkeley, or a private college after high school, with interests in law or medicine. She loves listening to music in her spare time, most always listening to her favorite artists, BTS and Lana Del Rey. She picked the quote, "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. She is inspired by this quote because she believes that it is important to continue to battle, to fight, and to never give up, even if it seems very easy to give up. She has made it this far, has driven her boat against the current, and will continue to do so. She lives by this quote because she has been taught from her parents to always work hard and to make time for school because there will be rewards at the end.
