The Initial Letter - Section 1
The first day of school is always a mix of emotions. I was excited to be able to see my friends again, but I also get anxious thinking of the work that is ahead of me for some of my classes. However, I still remind myself that there will always be a way that all my work for those classes must be done appropriately. Another thing that gets me anxious for the first day of school is deciding where to sit if the teacher lets their students decide their seating chart. Last year, we mostly just had assigned seats, and not that much time to be able to converse with one another due to more than half of the year being on Zoom. I don’t know that many people in my classes still, and it is difficult trying to figure out where my seating spot is. However, it’s not too bad, because in the end, if I pick my seat right, I might just end up making a friend. For this year, I plan for it to be a productive year in terms of completing my school work and also being able to participate in extracurriculars. Even though I am only taking one AP class, AP World History, there is still so much content in that class that I know I have to be efficient so I do well. I am especially eager to be a part of Leadership, and see where this road takes me. Although I know that there will be a lot of work in this class, the learning experiences and the possible connections make it all worth it in the end. All this work can be managed in an efficient manner, which is what I aim for. What I want to get out of the program is the knowledge that will teach me to become a better leader, tips for being productive and having amazing time management, and help for when I go into the professional world. What is learned in this class is not only useful for high school but can be translated into fields beyond high school. Once the reason for why we make websites was explained, it makes so much sense, for future employers, or even college admissions officers to see our characters and personalities. Even during all this excitement, I still have a thought looming in my mind. What happens if we are closed back up again? The delta variant of COVID-19 rates is becoming exceedingly high, and talks of shutdowns are back. We must be able to conform to change, even if it might mean that school events would need to be paused. A positive mindset can bring anyone through grand changes, work, and life’s other challenges.
Part 1: Favorite Quotes- Section 2
- “Memories of our lives, of our works, and our deeds will continue in others.” - Rosa Parks
- “If one man can destroy everything, why can’t one girl change it?” - Malala Yousafzai
- “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare it for today.” - Malcolm X
- “It’s never too late to be what you might’ve been.” - George Elliot (Mary Ann Evans)
All of these quotes have been stated by people that I hold to importance in my life because of their actions and ideas that they have done. The first quote reminds me of who I want to be remembered as, which of the characteristics of my personality will be shared with the future generations of my family and which achievements will they be informed of. I want to be remembered as a hardworking person who was able to achieve so many things because of my determination, dedication, and perseverance through hardships. I don’t want only my family to remember how I was, but also the last memories that my friends from high school will have of me. I know that they will be able to see the work that I put in to achieve my goals. The second quote is important to me because this statement explains the significance of what one girl can do. Women for a long time, and currently, have been underestimated in what they can do in the workplace especially, and I know that I might be treated like that since the two fields that I am contemplating are both male-dominated. I know that I am fully capable to do everything a male could do because of my persistence in whatever I am involved in. Malala Yousafzai is a great woman who is an amazing example of how much perseverance a woman can have, and she is one of my many role models. I chose to include the third quote because education is very near and dear to my heart, as it is something that can completely change who a person is and what they believe in, and what they will be. It is so important for every child to receive an education, and it is a sad reality that not many children in other countries can get even a basic education at that. That is why I am grateful that I can go to school and enroll in all of these classes to further my education and learn about the different tools to use later in life. We even learn a bit about professionalism in my Spanish class, which I did not anticipate, but am grateful for. I love to learn about mathematical concepts, read books, learn about different cultures, explore microscopes, learn more about my native language, try out different art styles, and last but not least, learn and develop the skills that it takes to be a leader. Education is the passport to the future meaning that it can drive learners to life beyond school, and tomorrow meaning the future, is in the hands of those with education today. Malcolm X is a very important figure in American history that not many children learn about in their history class. He was a strong leader who argued for freedom amongst Black Americans, who unfortunately suffered a rough childhood, but was able to educate himself and even go on to speak at Harvard University. The last quote is relative to me right now, as I am trying to decide what field I should go into. I cannot decide whether I would be a corporate attorney or an OBGYN, but I still remind myself that I have enough time to change my career choices, because I could even change my major in college. I am not reminding myself that anything could happen and that I should pursue whichever career I decide on, no matter how “late” it might be.
Part II: Quote- Section 3
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. -Nelson Mandela
To me, this quote means a variety of things, from development to going outside of your comfort zone. First, development is something that I have undergone throughout this year, and also something that I’m hoping to go through more of as time goes on. Development is something that can only be achieved if someone goes out of their comfort zone, if someone is willing to fail, as long as they have put in the effort and work, and it is the very action of rising every time that you fail. Development is not living life so carefully, never taking risks, just so that you have a perfect track record of always winning everything, but is the opposite of it. There have been times in Leadership and just in life where I would say that I have failed, but I always have realized that I cannot just quit now, that I must get over every bump in the road. What matters is not the failure but how you react to the failure, you can either get very angry or sad, and then believe that you will never make it or that you are a failure, or you can clear your mind and know that this is only a bump in the road, and not something that determines your life. I went out of my comfort zone by applying to Leadership two times, and now I go into next year knowing that I have a very difficult job that requires the mindset of this quote.

Part I: Goals- Section 4
Goals connected to Leadership
Goals connected to my future
- Successfully secure a position in Leadership for next year.
- Work hard in my position so that there is a bigger turnout of students at events because of the publicity that I will be working on.
- Obtain at least 100 volunteer hours, obtain a 4.0+ GPA, and get connected to professionals in my field.
- Get involved with clubs in the high school and win awards in the debate team, and be a part of the officer team for some clubs.
Goals connected to my future
- Become prominent in my field as a great worker, friendly and compassionate person who loves what they do.
- Live in a beautiful house in the bay area or on the east coast with my family.
Part II: Goals- Section 5
Goals connected to Leadership
Successfully secure a position in Leadership for next year.
Goals connected to my life
Obtain at least 100 volunteer hours, obtain a 4.0+ GPA, and get connected to professionals in my field.
Goals connected to my future
Become prominent in my field as a great worker, friendly and compassionate person who loves what they do.
Successfully secure a position in Leadership for next year.
- I am glad to say that I have indeed successfully secured a position for Leadership next year, I am going to be the Renaissance and Link Crew Coordinator. Before my interview, I tried my best to be as positive as possible, looking at the bright side about all of my preparation for the interview. I memorized all the roles that the Link Crew Coordinator has, I practiced saying them out loud as well so I could be confident when saying them. I also worked on being loud enough and having professionalism so I would be sure that I would get the job. When I was waiting before my interview, I kept on having encouraging thoughts, trying to make myself less nervous, and when I was in the interview, as more and more questions were asked, I felt confident. I just felt as if I was in a conversation about why I want to be in Leadership. I would say that I am nervous for next year because I am taking on a bigger role, with more responsibilities and work assigned to it, but I know with productivity and planning everything out, it should be all good.
- For this year, there has been a bigger turnout at various events that have been held, just to name a few, like Club Rush, Winter Formal, the Dodgeball Tournament, and Gallery of the Arts. Now this is not all because of me, but I have worked hard in my position, by putting in effort into the flyers that I create, trying to pick and choose the best design that would stand out to students. I also believe that there has been a bigger turnout of students because this is the first year where we have had all of our normal events ever since COVID hit, so many people are glad that these events have made a comeback. However, this also makes people reluctant to go to these events, but there still has been so much popularity with all of these events.
Goals connected to my life
Obtain at least 100 volunteer hours, obtain a 4.0+ GPA, and get connected to professionals in my field.
- I have not been able to receive 100 volunteer hours, however I am working to achieve more and more hours. The Red Cross has especially helped with this because of the various opportunities that they have that I am taking advantage of. I am also looking to see if other organizations give out volunteer opportunities, like Love Ripon, which has already given me volunteer hours in the past, and working with Project Alley Cat. I also have the whole summer to make even more progress on this, and I really hope that soon I will be able to surpass this mark. I enjoy helping out others in many ways, which is why I am looking for opportunities to get volunteer hours. I have also worked with Garden Joy by harvesting food in their garden, which was a good experience because the food that we harvested together was given back to the community at no cost. I am really glad to say that I have obtained a 4.0+ GPA, even with all of my AP and Honors classes, I have worked hard everyday to commit to the amount of work that these classes give, it is definitely not easy to obtain an A in all of these classes, but I still make it work. Succeeding in school is my main goal overall in life, and I am always working towards that goal. Next year, however, will definitely be even more of a challenge, because it will be a year full of all AP courses, which are more tremendously difficult than Honors courses, so I have to make sure that I am on top of that. I am also glad to say that I am connected with professionals in my field, not yet, but I will be very soon because of the mock interview that is coming up, where I get to be interviewed by an OBGYN. I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity, I am preparing for the interview and trying my best for it.
- I am definitely involved with many clubs at school, starting off with Speech and Debate, Red Cross, Sacred Heart, Scrubs Club, and the Next Chapter Club. However, I have not won any awards in the debate team because we do not have one and we have not had the opportunity to be involved in a debate club. I do wish we had this opportunity, hopefully we can have it next year, but it is sort of difficult to be in a debate team because I believe it would require one of our classes to Debate, so that we can have time to prepare for the debates, and have our permanent group of people who want to debate. I am a part of the officer team for a handful of clubs, I am the Public Relations Coordinator for Speech and Debate, I am the Community Outreach Coordinator for Sacred Heart, and I am a part of the club officer team for The Next Chapter book club. I am also proud to say that I am going to be the Vice President for the Red Cross next year, and I have applied to be Vice President in Scrubs Club as well.
Goals connected to my future
Become prominent in my field as a great worker, friendly and compassionate person who loves what they do.
- While I have not reached this point in my life yet, I believe that I am still working towards this goal everyday because of my passion for medicine and the excitement that I have to enter the field of medicine. If I get to have a sneak peek into the world of medicine, and I decide that I want to be in that world, I think that will fuel me to become prominent in my field because I already know what it is like and would have at least some sort of experience working in it. I want to be friendly and compassionate with everyone, not just people that I work with, but the people that I work for, my patients. I believe that my passion will drive me to this, because if I enjoy what I am doing everyday, then it will definitely show that I love my job and I will be creating positivity wherever I go.
- Again, I am not in this part of my life yet, but with the amount of money that doctors make, I know that I will be able to afford my dream house wherever I want to live. Thinking about it more, I will probably stay on the west coast because I know what it is like to live here, however, like it says in my goal, it will probably be in the bay area. I love the bay area because of the amount of diversity there, and honestly, the amount of food options there are also so diverse. However, I am not wanting to be a doctor for the money, I genuinely have a passion and a personal connection to wanting to be a doctor, but I know that the income that comes along with it will help towards this goal.
Part I: People Magazine Cover- Section 6
Part II: People Magazine Article- Section 7
Gabriella "Gabby" Melgarejo is a Sophomore at Ripon High School this year! We have decided to interview her for the achievements that she has accomplished so far into the school year. "Lately, I've been busy with club meetings almost every lunch, studying for AP World, or studying for the PSAT," says Gabby Melgarejo. Wow! It sounds like she has a lot on her plate at the moment. She then commented, "I was also able to obtain an officer position for the Sacred Heart club and am apart of the team preparing for the upcoming canned food drive that we will be holding. I also am making progress on my volunteer hours because of the Red Cross club that I am in." In only about 1 1/2 months of the school, Gabby has made wonderful progress on her extra curriculars! We then asked her more about the academic side of things, in which she answered, "Yes, I am very pleased to announce that I am doing great in AP World, I have aced the last test that we have done with an 104%! In all of my other classes, I am always working hard to achieve all A's and always looking to improve my grades." Gabby is trying to make her life in high school the best that it can be, but she does find it difficult to find free time where she would actually get to hang out with her friends, and she spends even less time with them because of all the club meetings every week. All of her classes have been very interactive and fun thus far, every having their own quirks. After school, you would be able to find her taking hours out of her day to do AP World notes, doing homework for additional classes, and trying to get some studying for the PSAT in.
However, sometimes, she explains, it does get stressful. "There are times where I am just constantly working until late at night, and it is very tiring to try to wake up at 6:30 AM when I have had less than 6 hours of sleep." To combat this, she reminds herself that all of this work will pay off in the end.
In the future, she is still undecided on what she wants to be. "I cannot pick between being a corporate lawyer or an OBGYN. Both careers can have amazing outcomes, but I know that I still need a little bit of time to figure out what will be right for me." Two amazing career choices! Her parents must be very proud for her wanting to be either in the medical or law field. Either way, she wants to live a happy life with her family, hopefully with a lot of pets, in a beautiful place in the world. Secretly, she wants to fly far away to Italy and live a humble life there. No really, "I don't think that I want to actually study in Italy, but it is such a gorgeous and wonderful place that I would love to in. If I could, I would just get up and move over there right now," she explains. She will continue to work hard to get into a good college to pursue her field of choice.

Role Model- Section 8
My role model in my life is my mom. I am very grateful to have a role model like her in my life because she teaches me to always be a hard worker and never give up. She is always working, at her job, and in the house, like cleaning the house and caring for me. She always pushes me to keep on working hard to achieve my goals and always reminds me of how lucky I am to be living here, where I have several opportunities to live a comfortable life. She has gone through a lot of changes in her life ever since the beginning of it, and yet she has always been able to push through them because of how passionate she is. She won’t let anything get in her way and is never struck down by anything. She is the strongest woman that I know, and all of the time and effort that I put into my school work and other projects are inspired by her hard-working self. I only hope that my efforts will eventually pay off and I will be able to spoil her and everything. Even now, she always tells me that she is proud of who I am and who I have become. I go above and beyond because I go above and beyond, not because my mom told me to. Because of that, my mom is impressed by my goals and latest achievements.

Inner Animal- Section 9
9. Inner Animal
One thing that I know most definitely about myself is that I have potential. I have the potential to reach high success in many ways, by going to college and furthering my education, living in a beautiful house in my dream city, and making my parents proud. There are times where I do get discouraged, but there has never been a thought that has gone through my head, telling me that I will never amount to anything. No matter what I go through in life, I know that I should never give up because I am living in a place where I have opportunities handed to me to at least have a stable job. I know that if I were to live in other countries, that is not an option, so I need to fully access what I have around me that I can utilize. Therefore, my inner animal is a caterpillar. Caterpillars are the larvae of a butterfly, which doesn’t sound that pleasing, but caterpillars have the potential to turn into beautiful butterflies and thrive. I believe that I am still in my caterpillar stage in life, as I work further and further, I am slowly getting out of my cocoon to transform into a butterfly, or eventually obtain my success. I might stay a caterpillar my whole high school life. I might get out of my cocoon in senior year. Or, I might get out of my cocoon until my 30s. It will all depend on where life takes me and what pace I decide to put my life on. No matter what time I get out of my cocoon, I know that I will always be striving to better myself to become the best butterfly. I can’t wait for people to be able to see my real potential and see what I blossom into.

Lana Del Rey - Radio
"Not even they can stop me now
Boy, I'll be flying overhead
Their heavy words can't bring me down
Boy I've been raised from the dead
No one even knows how hard life was
I don't even think about it now because
I've finally found you
Oh, sing it to me
Now my life is sweet like cinnamon
Like a dream I'm living in
Baby love me cause I'm playing on the radio
(How do you like me now?)
American dreams came true somehow
I swore I'd chase until I was dead
I heard the streets were paved with gold
That's what my father said"
This is just an excerpt from the song and I cut out some lyrics that did not really fit me. In the beginning verse, I feel as if the "they" that the song refers to me would be like the people that don't believe in me or disregard me for who I really am. I cannot be stopped by their words or their thoughts, I'm going to keep on being myself and "flying", as in preserving and advancing. In a way I do feel as I have been "raised from the dead" because of how much I used to care about what other people thought of me and how it dragged me down. The "you" in the second part doesn't really mean a specific person to me, but it's like talking to myself, now that I've finally found myself and how I truly am which has led me to reach for my goals. The first two sentences for me refers to something else that isn't in my life, but the life that my parents had. I know that I and other children of immigrants forget the situations that our parents lived in. The third part resonates irony in my life, it is "sweet" because of the privileges that I have, but cinnamon isn't sweet, it is a spice and rather bitter. The bitter part is all of my work load that I have and the high standards that I force myself and hold myself to have. It is like a dream that I am able to pursue any career that I wish to have, however, I do have to put a lot of effort to do so. The last part then also refers to how my American dreams came true, I have a lot of opportunities and good grades in school, I didn't need to wait until I was older to reach them. The last two sentences refers to what the United States is perceived as by people who immigrate to there, they hear that the streets were paved with gold and this relates to me personally because of how my parents are immigrants.

What I Like Best About Being A Member of Leadership- Section 14
One of my favorite Leadership memories was at the beginning of the school year during Homecoming. When we were decorating the windows, I remember I had to wake up really early for school to be there at 7 am, but at soon as I got there, I went straight to work alongside the other Sophomores. As we were working, we dealt with many difficulties such as things not working properly or having to let go of things that can’t be used anymore. However, this is one of my favorite memories because this was one of the first times that I got to work with the other Sophomores in Leadership and create a nice and creative windows decoration. I also remember at the beginning of us working, I had to tie up the ends of the balloons with Spencer and Jenna, but my hands were freezing cold and it was difficult to tie the balloons together. I also remember that as we were trying to create the balloon arch, a dead bee got on the tape that was sticking all of the balloons together. We eventually had to scrap the ballon arch because it was not working that well, but everything turned out to be alright in the end.
This is kind of one of the more recent memories, when we had to set up for Winter Formal. There were some problems, such as the tent people coming in late, but overall this is my favorite Leadership memory because of how I bonded with the other Sophomores. We all talked, and while we were waiting for the tent people to arrive, we started walking around in the school while it was really cold. We made a whole circle around the school, and then we find the other Sophomores in a car with the heater on. We all get inside the car, relieved to find some warmth in the freezing cold, and stayed there for a bit, basically until the tent people arrived. We all were talking with one another and I remember just making the most out of it.
After we got back from break, we had a long period to talk with our grade classmates. This is my favorite memory because I was able to converse with the Sophomores and talk to mostly everyone. We first talked about our career choices and why we chose them, and then we went into each of our own conversations, for example, I talked about tennis with Gideon because I really wanted to start practicing tennis to be able to get better in time for the tennis season that is coming up. I just remember having a fun time being able to talk to the Sophomores and getting to know each of them better.

A Reflection of a Peer in Leadership- Section 15
There have been many instances where Jenna has been so selfless by helping out the Sophomores in things like Homecoming or Winterfest. She always stays to help until there is no more work to do, for example, on Monday when we went to Spencer’s house to work on Winterfest things, she was the last person to leave and had planned to stay to get all the work done. She is really caring and it is not easy to be so helpful and giving like this. In addition, she is so intelligent and hardworking with her other academics, so I believe that she deserves to be known for her great qualities.

What I love to do...- Section 18
After school, I don’t get much time to spend on extra activities because of the amount of homework that I have and now I have tennis practices which cut my time even further, but I still have days where I am able to participate in one of my many hobbies. As for athletics, I love to play tennis, and although I am a beginner at it, I still practice and practice in hopes of developing my skills in tennis. I practice every day after school, I practice hitting the ball and sometimes have matches with the other people there, which I especially enjoy. Today, I played a singles match with someone else and even though I lost (6-1), I did have fun and I got happy when I saw that I was able to hit the ball back. Sometimes it can get disheartening when I try my best to hit the ball and I miss it or I send the ball like 100 miles away.
Going along with physical stuff, I love to take my dog out on walks, which is a chance for me to get some fresh air and just hang out with my dog, and to also get some exercise. When my dog gets really tired, he just sits in the shade for a couple of minutes until we’re both ready to get back up and start walking home. I also love to crochet, because my grandma taught me when I was very little and I love to make designs out of every color and things like hats and sweaters, both of which I have made for my dog. I also occasionally read, I have to for English class, and I genuinely enjoy this because reading is something that is so fundamental, that can open up your perspective on things. I also like to collect music albums, which not only contain the music CD but also so many things inside like a photobook, a photocard, stickers, and much more. I do like to play video games occasionally when I get the chance, my favorite is Overwatch. My favorite mode to play Overwatch in is competitive because it is much more stressful.

Letter to Parents- Section 19
Dear Mom and Dad,
Thank you for everything that you have given to me, for all of the knowledge, motivation, courage, and opportunities that you have given. I am very grateful that you two have been so brave in order for me to have a privileged life, where the problems that I have are very surface level compared to the problems that you two have endured. I will not take any of this for granted, even though I feel as if I have a lot of pressure on me to be successful, you two are still so open to whatever I wish to be in life and don’t force me into one specific field. I will always try my best and my hardest to make you two happy and proud of who I am, but I know that you two are already proud of me. Thank you for always being there for me and for being patient with me as I go through challenges in my daily life, such as school. I am so happy that I have two very hardworking individuals as my parents, who can always be my role models when I have difficulties getting through because you two have gone through so much and have stayed strong and resilient through it all.
From,
Gabby
Your True Legacy- Section 20
Dear Payton and Katie,
This job is not one of the most significant in terms of the amount of workload that is offered, you will find that out very quickly once you start to settle in for the next school year. I wish I knew this fact myself, so I could plan out the work that I was given in a better fashion to get less stressed. I would also say I wish I knew that you cannot spend a long amount of time on each little poster. You are going to need to create several posters all throughout the school year that you simply cannot take a large amount of time on each poster to try to make it perfect in every single way. I made this mistake for the very first poster that I created, the Back to School poster, where I tried to perfect it the best that I could. You might be having to make even more publicity than me and Emily had to make, just so that we’re sure that the student body knows about the events that we’re holding.
I recommend you start all of your work the day you get it, if possible, that way you are least stressed and get everything done. Also, because you don’t really have an overwhelming workload with this job, I would say that it would be best to reach out to others in Leadership and ask if they need help with anything. Also, to avoid the mistake of having very little publicity, perhaps both of you make a poster each for school events. It’s always to have more publicity rather than having little to no publicity for school events.
Best of luck,
Gabby

Do's and Don'ts List- Section 21
Do’s
Don’ts
- Start every assignment early, even if this means just picking out the layout for a poster on Canva, you will save much more time in the future and feel less stressed.
- It’s always better to have a lot of publicity than to have poor publicity, so make sure you are sending out those posters.
- If you have to pass out the My Intent bracelets, I recommend splitting up and passing them out like that to save time.
- Your major posters will be on Homecoming and Winterfest, spend the most amount of time on them, these will create the biggest impact.
- Always communicate with your partner so you know how the work is spread out amongst you two
Don’ts
- Rush the posters.
- Have little to no communication about making the flyers.
- Try to perfect the posters in every single way.
- Procrastinate making the posters.

The Professional- Section 24
One of the most important professional aspects of Leadership has been the creation of our resumes and cover letters, in addition to the following mock interviews. Not only is my resume completely ready for when I go into the work field hopefully soon, but I have a packet of information for writing resumes in the future. When working on our resumes, we received many tips and tricks on writing the best resume, not only by Morty but even by some of my peers. Before coming into this program, I did not even know what a cover letter was, much less what the importance of it would be. This is so incredibly important because your livelihood is literally based on how good your resume is, because if it’s good, then you get hired into your career. I know I will use much of the information that I learned just from this will advance my professional life.
The second professional aspect in Leadership that is important to me is doing speeches. In this assignment, we picked from a hat what the topic we would be doing would be, and then had that speech in front of the whole class. While this experience was certainly nerve-wracking, it helped immensely with getting rid of the nerves that I had in the past of public speaking. Even if you are not the best at public speaking, you gain more and more experience speaking in front of people which will, in turn, create you into a better speaker. You don’t have to worry about your story being good, but just how it is delivered, which is what is graded. This is very important because public speaking will most likely be common in my job field so it is better to be prepared and experienced.

Change- Section 25
A problem that occurred this year within our grade was miscommunication and the direct absence of communication. This is why, as a Leader, someone should always be completely direct, of course not being rude, but telling it how it is. There is no need for beating around the bush or wanting to ignore a problem because you’re uncomfortable, just do it. This is something that I have a problem with, I struggle with being direct, or confronting people if they have done something wrong. I do not like confrontation, I do not like being angry at people or telling them they are doing something wrong. I feel like if I were to confront someone, they would just not take me seriously at all because everyone thinks that I must be passive and shy. As a change for me personally, I need to be more direct and just real with everyone. I shouldn’t feel afraid to voice my opinion or to speak out, but it’s difficult to have a soft-spoken voice in a room of outgoing voices.
A change for the future class is really the amount of productivity that everyone has. Everyone has a lot of work, everyone is busy, everyone is tired, everyone feels unmotivated, everyone has no time to do their homework. And yet, when we have free time in class, there is no quiet, only people talking with each other instead of doing their work. Mind you, these days mostly occur on the block days, where we literally have an hour and thirty minutes of time to work on stuff. There have been numerous amount of times where I am just trying to work on my things but I could not focus because of how loud the classroom is. It’s understandable for people to talk to each other, maybe some people need help with their work and stuff, people can have fun and take breaks, but this is a work period. A work period means a time to work on your things, not to goof off. Yes, although, there have been times when I was talking to someone for the period, usually David, I find our conversations to have worth to them, as we help each other and give each other advice for school. Everyone complains that they don’t have time to do their homework and yet no one does it on the block days.

Ideal Leader- Section 26
An ideal leader is someone that is impactful, assertive but kind, productive, and skillful. All of these qualities would make for a highly successful Leadership student. A student in this program should be expected to do regarding daily class activity is to always be on task and paying their full attention when the AD is talking. An ideal leader would always rush back to their desk and be fully ready once the bell rings to hear directions from the AD regarding what to do, and use their time wisely to finish any Leadership tasks assigned and turned in on time. For planning and events, an ideal leader should space out their work so that they do not get stressed out. In case the ideal leader was to need assistance, they would not be afraid to ask for help and guidance, from older students in the program or from the AD. This is so the ideal leader knows fully what to expect when planning the events so that they too can, later on, help students who need it. Events created by the ideal leader would run smoothly, and if any problems were to occur, the ideal leader would quickly work to sort them out. For completing homework, the ideal leader would always turn in their homework on time, however, there are sometimes life events that get in the way of completing work on time, and the ideal leader is also just a human, so the ideal leader may, but very rarely, turn in an assignment late. However, the ideal leader would make sure to communicate with the AD to make sure that there are no issues. What is acceptable is the acknowledgment that some things may not go as planned, but that is nothing to fret about, and with proper communication, it can all get fixed. What is not acceptable is a student who does not respect others and who does not communicate or listen.
